GST invoice QR code: frequently asked questions
No. The official e-invoice QR carries a digitally signed IRN (Invoice Reference Number) generated by the government IRP portal and is mandatory for businesses above the notified turnover. This tool builds a simple readable QR with your GSTIN, invoice number, date, and total for B2B bill copies and B2C receipts. For IRN-signed QRs you need IRP integration, which is a QRSprint Business feature.
As of now, e-invoicing with IRN and a signed QR is mandatory for businesses whose aggregate turnover crosses the threshold notified by the GST Council (it has been lowered in stages). If you are below the threshold, you are not legally required to use the signed IRN QR, and a self-contained invoice QR like this one is still handy for quick verification.
Yes. Building and downloading the QR is free with no signup and no watermark. The paid QRSprint Business plan adds IRP integration for genuine IRN-signed e-invoice QRs and bulk invoice runs.
Seller GSTIN, optional buyer GSTIN for B2B, invoice number, invoice date, total amount, and HSN code. A buyer or auditor scans it to read those fields instantly instead of typing them from a paper bill.
Any standard QR scanner or phone camera can read the data, since it is encoded as plain readable JSON. For the official signed e-invoice QR, the government provides a dedicated verification app, but that applies only to IRN-signed codes, not this self-contained one.
This page builds one invoice QR at a time. For high invoice volumes, the QRSprint Business plan supports bulk generation and IRP integration so you are not pasting GSTINs one by one.
Print it directly on the invoice PDF or the printed bill copy, usually near the totals or the signature block. Keep it at least 2 cm wide so it scans cleanly from a phone, and test one printout before rolling it across your billing template.
The QR is built in your browser from what you type, so the invoice details are encoded into the image locally. Only print and share QRs on invoices you are comfortable handing to that buyer, since anyone who scans the printed code can read the encoded fields.
